Summary:

  • Under the general direction of the Patient Access Center Director, plan, organize, direct, and control the operation of patient access and registration, to efficiently pre-admit, admit and discharge patients while maximizing the hospital’s cash position.

Responsibilities:

  •   Direct and coordinate all activities of the personnel involved with patient access, admissions, and registrations to ensure all activities are completed in a timely, accurate, and customer friendly manner, and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
  •    Assist with and prepare portions of departmental operating budget and monitor compliance.
  •   Direct all activities related to recruitment of new personnel, and the training, scheduling, evaluation, disciplinary action and termination of existing personnel, assuring compliance with personnel policies.
  •   Evaluate performance of direct reporting personnel. Review and approve performance appraisals of personnel assigned to subordinate personnel.  
  •   Assist with timely review of all regulations and standards to assure compliance with orders or directives issued by governmental/regulatory agencies or third party payors. Keep informed of all changes and coordinate implementation within the department.
  •    Development of release management and change management policies, procedures and documentation tools. Implementation and monitoring of new functionality and major releases, including related policies and procedures
  •   Assists in maintaining the financial growth of the organization, by overseeing the Candidate for Billing (CFB) patient work queues 
  • Ensures that class changes are made for patients due to clinical changes that have occurred, to compile with coding requirements  

Credentials:

  • Must obtain CHAM through NAHAM within one year of hire. 

    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    •   Bachelor preferred or equivalent work experience in hospital business setting.
