Location: Plainsboro, NJ 

Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Shift Hours: First Shift – Monday – Friday / 7 am – 3:30 pm (No weekends/holidays)

    Summary:

    • The Clinical Supply Chain Liaison provides consultation to the Penn Medicine Princeton Patient Care Services and Clinical Support Departments Corporate Purchasing, Clinical Engineering and Materials Management Department in all aspects regarding new product and equipment selection, evaluation, vendor management, negotiations and implementation. Also responsible and accountable for facilitating the development of policies, procedures, and processes that support and enhance the Department of PMPH stewardship of product utilization/selection in accordance with patient/employee safety and satisfaction goals. Specifically, by: Utilizing evidence based research and practice Thoroughly quantifying and analyzing utilization and patient outcome data for return on investment and discovery of opportunities Partnering with finance, value analysis personnel, entity departments, and nursing at all levels. Is able to accomplish this utilizing effective communication and facilitation skills; as well as being skilled at managing and directing fluctuating workloads, timeframes, triage priorities, working independently within a large complex organization, and consistently demonstrating the ability to problem solve in both routine daily situations as well as in more complex and sensitive situations.

    Responsibilities:

    • PATIENT/CUSTOMER & EMPLOYEE/ORGANIZATIONAL: 
    • Employee, Team and Customer Satisfaction - Meets regularly with hospital leadership and management to review product/equipment/supply issues, and provide updates on resolution to known issues. 
    • Meets regularly with hospital leadership.
    •  Regularly meets with Patient Care Services Purchasing, and Materials Management employees at all levels to improve communication and to build productive relationships. 
    •  Continuously communicates at all levels the importance of patient satisfaction, quality of care, and sound financial performance; and champions successes and priorities for improving performance in meeting and exceeding patient and customer expectations through the selection, implementation, and utilization of products and technology. 
    • Analyzes and utilizes employee and organizational satisfaction data to identify opportunities. 
    • Develop action plans. Implement and follow through with action plans. Manage & eliminate process workarounds in relation to products and technology. 
    • Focus energy on collaboration and accountability. 
    • Fosters collegial professional relationships within patient care services and clinical support departments, across all hospital departments and PMPH. 
    •  Internal Partnerships: Works with PMPH Patient Care Services at all levels, Director of Supply Chain, Finance, Corporate Purchasing, Clinical Engineering, and Materials Management, and all relevant departments in developing programs, services and initiatives to anticipate future customer needs, build customer loyalty and generate profitable growth.
    • Supports standards and drives operational integration of programs by ensuring alignment of communication to Patient Care Services and Non-Patient Care Services Leadership. 
    • Supports Patient Care Services and Clinical Support Departments at all levels, Corporate Purchasing, Clinical Engineering and Materials Management in establishing/updating processes and work practices. 
    • Manage and eliminate process workarounds by appropriately and consistently sharing with organizational partners the issues, which require their attention. For example, timely delivery of equipment with appropriate checking by clinical engineering etc. Review subjective and objective data and identify opportunities for improvement. 
    • Drive patient/client loyalty and physician referral by ensuring members of implementation, selection, education, and evaluation team to understand PMPH commitment to service, their own work processes, and to have the necessary products and technology available to meet service expectations.
    •  Participates in the strategic planning processes for large equipment purchases, including those made in construction and expansion projects. Supports Patient Care Services and Clinical Support Departments at all levels, Corporate Purchasing, Clinical Engineering and Materials Management in managing team and individual performance in alignment with the UPHS vision of service excellence: Drive patient/client loyalty and physician referral by ensuring members of implementation, selection, education, and evaluation team to understand UPHS’ commitment to service, their own work processes, and to have the necessary products and technology to meet service expectations. 
    • Provides interdisciplinary consultation throughout the organization on all product and equipment related initiatives to align with PMPH standards and the Blueprint for Quality and Patient Safety. 
    • Focus energies on collaborating and accountability in problem resolution. 
    • Manage stakeholder complaints and provide timely follow up to ensure satisfaction. OPERATIONS: HIGH RELIABILITY PATIENT CARE IOM: Supports Patient Care Services and Clinical Support Departments at all levels, Supply Chain, Finance, Corporate Purchasing, Clinical Engineering and Materials Management in establishing/updating processes and work practices: Building work practices and team processes that utilize products and technology based on the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) Six Aims for Improvement: Safe: avoid injuries to patients from the care that is intended to help them. Effective: provide services based on scientific knowledge. 
    • Patient-Centered: provide care that is responsible to individual patient preferences, needs and values and assuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions. 
    • Timely: reduce waits and sometimes-harmful delays for both those who receive care and those who give care. 
    • Efficient: Avoid waste, including waste of equipment, supplies, ideas, and energy. 
    • Equitable: provide care that does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location or socio-economic status. 
    • Communicate, reinforce, update, and facilitate as necessary procedures relevant to products and technology that will impact patient care.

      Education or Equivalent Experience:

      • Education Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required 
      • Graduate of an NLN approved school of professional nursing. 
      • Master’s Degree: Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field, or applicant should be enrolled in accredited program required
      • Currently licensed as a professional nurse in the State of New Jersey.

      Related Work Experience:

      •  Minimum of five years of progressive nursing experience with demonstrated leadership skills. 
      • Minimum of two years’ experience in products/supply chain process.
