Working for this leading academic medical center means collaboration with top clinical, technical and business professionals across all disciplines.The Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS) is responsible for programmatic leadership of nursing professional development activities in the CPUP clinical environment. The NPDS identifies opportunities to develop CPUP's clinical staff in the ambulatory environment. Educational initiatives will align with CPUP’s organizational and operational priorities, input from key clinical stakeholders and partnership with nursing leadership.
· The NPDS leader supports a culture of solution-based innovation and identifies creative and inventive approaches to clinical education and professional development. The NPDS collaborates with leaders across the organization to ensure integration of work that drives high-quality patient care through nursing practice and performance.
· The NPDS supports various aspects of professional development, orientation, competency management and continuing education. The NPDS utilizes program design, implementation and evaluation for education and professional development programs to drive clinical and workforce outcomes and elevate the profession of nursing and allied health staff.
Responsibilities:
· Build effective relationships with members of the inter-professional team to promote an environment of collaborative practice. Collaborates to drive clinical and patient outcomes with leaders in nursing education, practice and operations.
· Design, implement, and evaluate professional development programming for clinical staff at all levels within the organization by incorporating relevant research findings, evidence-based practice standards and guidelines into staff development programming.
· Support lifelong learning of clinical staff and all aspects of professional practice including compliance with regulatory standards, evidence-based practice, policies, procedures, and professional accountability. Ensure that the needs of our diverse employee and patient population are incorporated in program planning and design.
· Consults and participates on committees and initiatives, as identified, or directed.
· Leverage expertise in educational program design and development to facilitate delivery of high quality, coordinated, evidence-based clinical care via:
onboarding programs for nurses and clinical support staff
continuing education programs to enhance knowledge and skill
ongoing education and professional development initiatives to support enhanced skill and competency in multiple clinical specialties
required mandatory and/or annual education
role transition support and programming
clinical advancement and recognition programs
promotion of nursing specialty certification
Credentials:
· Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
· Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
· Masters RN (Required)
· Nursing experience, 2-5 years (preferred)
· Nursing experience in education, development, planning, implementation and evaluation (preferred)
· NPD-BC or AMB-BC Specialty Certification (preferred)
