Summary:
- The Medical Scribe works under the direct supervision of the provider and is responsible for charting patient encounters into the EMR.
Responsibilities:
- Accompanies the provider into each patient exam area & procedures
- Assists with the documentation of each patient’s medical record during patient encounter / procedure
- Assists provider with patient flow, directing them to the next examination room, and ensuring the correct sequence of events occur for each patient.
- Ensures proper documentation including patient chart reviews, encounters are signed, and charts are closed
- Performs universal protocol on all patients receiving procedures
- Acts as a chaperone to patients when necessary
- Assists manager with other administrative duties as assigned
- Trains other Medical Scribes as assigned by manager
- Informs manager in partnership with the provider of all instrument and equipment problems that require servicing by Bio- Medical, Service Rep, or Help Desk Support
- Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
- Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization
Credentials:
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED And 0-1 years Experience in healthcare, or as a medical secretary. (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
