Summary:

  • The Clinical Pharmacy Manager provides oversight of pharmacists and clinical pharmacy services provided. This includes the development, monitoring, evaluation and coordination of clinical pharmacy services that promote optimal patient outcomes. This individual will develop and implement policies, procedures, process guidelines, and protocols to ensure the provision of safe, effective and economical pharmacotherapy for all patients in the hospital, ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission and applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. This individual will actively participate and/or lead various clinical committees at both the system and hospital level. Responsibilities include direct supervision of clinical pharmacy staff who provide patient-focused pharmaceutical care. Other responsibilities include the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, fiscal controls, formulary management, and risk management functions for the clinical pharmacy program. The Clinical Pharmacy Manager facilitates communication and education of clinical and operational initiatives to pharmacy staff. This individual will support the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program by serving as a resident preceptor and mentor for the Residency Program Director. This individual works with pharmacy leadership to implement new clinical and operational initiatives, as needed, and performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, coordinates, implements and provides all aspects of clinical pharmacy activities with emphasis on therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical pathways, formulary management, antimicrobial stewardship, pharmacoeconomic and patient outcomes.
  • In conjunction with pharmacy leadership, supervises clinical pharmacy staff, performing the full range of supervisory functions, including performance evaluations

  • Assists the Associate Director in coordinating the review, tracking and compilation of data to measure outcomes and metrics, including adverse drug events (i.e. medication incidents and adverse drug reactions)
  • Serves on a number of key clinical and patient safety committees, both at the system and local level, including the local Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards, including but not limited to The Joint Commission, Pennsylvania Department of Health, Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy, and USP standards.
  • Promotes staff development through participation and leadership in pharmacy staff meetings, in-services, continuing education programs, and competency measurements
  • Oversees pharmacist training programs, including coordination of IPPE/APPE pharmacy students, serving as a PGY1 pharmacy residency preceptor, and supporting the PGY1 Residency Program Director.
  • Effectively serves as a liaison between hospital staff and pharmacy to assure consistency and quality of Pharmacy Services. Troubleshoots issues when necessary.

Credentials:

  • Pharmacist (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Other (Required)
  • Education Specialization: BS Pharmacy or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy or equivalent Equivalent Experience: •And 5+ years Related hospital work experience
