Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) has an outstanding opportunity for a Nurse Practioner or Physician Assistant to join the Interventional Radiology team and work alongside some of the best medical providers in Philadelphia.

The IR service provides care to both inpatients and ambulatory patients. Patient population includes adult patients with varying acuity from acute trauma and illness to chronic illnesses as well as ambulatory patients undergoing elective interventions. Common procedures that our interventionists perform include endovascular intervention for peripheral arterial disease, deep and superficial venous insufficiency, cancer directed therapy, prostate artery embolization, uterine artery embolization and hemodialysis access interventions. The NP/PA will have the opportunity to perform select procedures including central venous device insertions, thora/paracentesis, and image-guided biopsy.

The NP/PA is responsible for assessment and evaluation of all outpatient new visits and follow up appointments as well as consults and rounding on inpatients. The APP is also an integral member of care coordination including triage of patients and consults working in collaboration with the interventionists, providers, nursing, and other members of the care team. 

As a provider, you will be committed to delivering high quality and safe patient care. You will have the ability to coordinate multiple aspects of the patient's care at a high level of independence. 

Shift: No nights, no weekends, no call.

Responsibilities:
Provides direct clinical care for patient population according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based practice standards in collaboration with team.
Maintains accurate and confidential medical records. 
Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with organizational standards in the electronic health record (EHR). Identifies self properly to the patient and family and clarifies the role of the nurse practitioner if necessary.
The nurse practitioner should function within their scope and refer to the collaborating physician when outside of scope, and/or directed by the collaborating physician or when requested by the patient and/or family.
Performs interventions specific to assigned patient population and collaborative agreement.
Participates in the performance improvement processes to meet quality of care and service standards.Demonstrates awareness of professional responsibility as role model to peers and members of the health care team.
Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status.
Addresses patient and family concerns and creates a therapeutic relationship to provide support.
Provide patient education, counseling and instruction regarding patient diagnosis, medical treatments, medications, and preventative care.
Participate in and support accreditation, compliance and regulatory activities of the organization
Precept NP students and other health care learners. Identifies patient/family needs for community resources and refers appropriately.

Minimum Requirements:
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Masters Physician Assistant required
Nurse Practioner or Physician Assistant Pennsylvania State license, active and in good standing at time of hire
AHA ACLS and CPR Required
Critical Care and/or Cardiac Care experience is preferred
