Summary:

  • The Supervisor of Financial Advocacy oversees the daily operations of the Patient Financial Advocacy Program within all Penn Medicine hospitals and physician groups. The supervisor ensures compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and hospital policies pertaining to Financial, Medical and Prescription Assistance. This position has direct responsibility for the organization's Patient Financial Advocates who serve to financially assist all Penn Medicine patients who are uninsured or underinsured. Performance has direct impact on meeting Corporate Revenue Cycle's Key Performance Indicators.

Responsibilities:


  • Supervises the daily operations of the Financial Counseling and Patient Financial Advocacy divisions within the HUP/CPUP Revenue Cycle Department.

    Tracks departmental processes and reports to ensure the Revenue Cycle’s key performance indicator (KPI) benchmarks are being met.

    Ensures departmental policies and procedures are being followed on a regular basis and recommends updates as needed.

    Focus on and recommend continuous process improvements.

    Manages staff
    interviews, hires, assigns and directs work, conduct performance evaluations with rewards and recognition, create and implement corrective action plans (where needed), addresses complaints and resolves issues that may arise.

    Assists the department in achieving and maintaining the Hospital’s Candidate for Billing (CFB) daily goal.

    Ensures effective, two-way communication and follow up is provided to department service delivery areas when unresolved financial issues require a delay in treatment.

    Monitors patient referrals, department appointment reports, and patient work-queues to ensure accounts are being worked in a timely and accurate fashion.

    Ensures staff collects applicable patient out-of-pocket liabilities prior to services for both HUP services and CPUP services.

    Ensures staff collect all applicable documentation for the completion of all patient financial programs.

Credentials:

  • American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management
  • AAHAM Revenue Cycle Certification preferred Association of Community Cancer Centers Boot Camp Certification preferred

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
  • Education Specialization: Healthcare Equivalent Experience: •And 2+ years Hospital or Practice Revenue Cycle Setting Previous supervisory/management role preferred OR HS diploma & 5+ yeats Hospital or Practice Revenue Cycle Setting
