Summary: The Staff Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is an entry level position with working knowledge and application of skills within Skills Group 1, requiring some training in new skills areas. Distant supervision needed in mastered skills within Skills Group 1, as outlined in this job description. Emerging competency within Skills Group 2/Specialized Skills Group. Participates in research activities and training of medical students, residents and physicians. Maintains an adequate knowledge base and excellence in clinical care while consistently adapting to limitations created by an evolving health care environment. Is involved in the organization and department's operational plan, mission, vision and strategic plan. Assists with tasks and responsibilities as requested by Director/supervisor. The Staff Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide detailed differential diagnostic interpretations, recommendations and therapeutic services to adults presenting with voice and dysphagia of all etiologies, with an emphasis on head and neck cancer and voice/laryngology at our Penn Medicine locations. The SLP will have 1-4 years' experience and require supervision as indicated based on clinical experience. Caseload may include Videostroboscopy, FEES, MBS, and management of laryngectomy and tracheostomy. The successful candidate will work as a team player, participate in patient/physician outreach/education and manage patients voice and swallowing post-surgical and/or radiation treatment with distant supervision. The clinician will be aware of and assist as indicated, in the training of student interns, residents, present in-services and participate in research upon request or interest. The clinician will also assist with tasks and responsibilities as requested by the Director/Supervisor.
