Full Time: Lead Interpreter Services opening
7:30am - 4:00pm, weekend rotation required
Summary:
- The Lead Interpreter performs a variety of duties related to organizing and facilitating linguistic and cultural communication between patients seeking health-care services and their providers.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for proactively communicating with the Manager of Interpreter Services and Director of Patient Access the status of operations, potential issues that may arise.
Helps identify and solve problems to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, patients, and customers
proactively determines underlying or hidden problems that may result in potential issues.
Collaborates with the Manager/Director/ Nursing Supervisor to ensure staffing needs are met as well as productivity guidelines are followed.
Consecutive (primary mode) and simultaneous medical interpreting, Sight translation
Perform all interpreter roles: Conduit, Clarifier, Cultural Broker, Advocate
Recording and submitting encounter details, tracking minutes interpreting
Over-the-phone assistance for patients/providers with scheduling/follow-up requests
Schedule flexibility, ability to provide coverage for other interpreters
Assisting Manager of Interpreter Services with projects/initiatives when requested
Educating patients/staff on the interpreter services we provide (in-person, video, phone) and how to contact/use/access each.
Educate patient/staff on “Interpreter and Language Support” policy
Perform all interpreter roles: Conduit, Clarifier, Cultural Broker, Advocate
Maintain office equipment and maintain office supplies, (order as appropriate)
Comply with all HIPAA and JCAHO regulations.
Credentials:
- NBCMI or CCHI (Required)
- National Board of Certified Medical Intrepreters (NBCMI) or Commission for HealthCare Interpreters (CCHI) within one year of hire
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- Education Specialization:
Equivalent Experience:
•And 2+ years Interpreter experience within a healthcare setting
•Proficiency in both (oral, written) English and Spanish
•1+ years EPIC Experience
