Pharmacy - (Retail)

The lead prior authorization technician is responsible for helping to manage the day to day activity of the centralized prior authorization program for the UPHS Specialty Pharmacy Program. The centralized prior authorization program services all Penn hospitals and ambulatory clinics and includes more than 16 service lines in both the inpatient and outpatient care settings. In addition to pre-certifying medications, the centralized prior authorization program also signs patients up for copay assistance helping to ensure access and adherence to complex specialty and maintenance medications. The purpose of the lead prior authorization technician is to help drive overall performance and manage the daily activities of the centralized program. Key responsibilities will include ensuring timeliness of prior authorization completion, ensuring accuracy of information submitted, standardizing prior authorization activities/documentation across the health system, training of technicians as the team continues to grow, performing quality assurance checks in accordance with regulatory requirements, and managing the daily schedule to ensure optimal patient care throughout the UPHS health system.

H.S. Diploma/GED And 5+ years 5 to 7 years as a Pharmacy Technician Required.  Technician Certification (CPhT)
