  • This position is for Ambulatory Infusion Pharmacy at Pennsylvania Hospital

    Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for, but not limited to preparing pharmacy orders and sterile compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous medications and maintaining work areas and stock levels. This position will also aid in the maintenance of environmental controls as well as collection of compliance data. This position is located at Pennsylvania Hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately interprets and fills all ambulatory medication orders under the direction supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Demonstrates initiative and completes work assignments efficiently and effectively. Adheres to daily work schedules.
  • Is knowledgeable of all job responsibilities and executes them in a timely fashion. Assists co-workers during busy times and periods of staff shortages.
  • Maintains adequate stock levels in all areas of the pharmacy and other areas of the hospital.
  • Processes all credits/returns and checks and replenishes emergency boxes and emergency carts in a timely fashion.
  • Is responsive to the directions of a pharmacist. Communicates with pharmacy staff and other hospital personnel to maintain continuity of patient care.
  • Performs monthly floor checks of patient care units and ancillary departments effectively and efficiently. Processes ancillary department orders in a timely fashion.
  • Accurately refills automated dispensing  machines and assists in the resolution of count discrepancies.
  • Satisfactorily passes required hospital and government validation examinations
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and all levels of hospital personnel. Shows, courtesy, compassion, sensitivity and respect.

Education/Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) is required.
  • Some college and prior hospital pharmacy experience preferred, with a basic working knowledge of drugs and dosages.
