The Emergency Surgery Service at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their team of board certified general surgeons and a PA. The ESS at HUP is part of the Division of Traumatology, Surgical Critical Care, and Emergency Surgery and provides urgent and emergent surgical care on a 24/7 basis. As a NP/PA on this service you will be part of a high functioning interprofessional team who’s responsible for concentrating emergent surgical care into a cohesive surgical provider group with expertise in the management of complex and critically ill surgical patients . Responsibilities for the NP/PA who joins our team will include inpatient management, outpatient clinic, clinical decision making, bedside procedures (including complex wound care), discharge planning, care coordination, team collaboration, and education of patients, family and staff. The NP/PA, while providing quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other members of the care team, performs histories, physicals, and procedures according to credentialing and privileging. They will also participate in educational activities, research as appropriate, ensures regulatory compliance, documents care according to standards, and prescribes in accordance with the collaborative agreement and state regulations.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s prepared Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant• Pennsylvania licensure and certification as an ACNP or PA-C
• BLS, ACLS required
