Summary:

  • Penn Medicine Princeton Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to join our Critical Care Unit in Plainsboro, NJ. This is a full-time night shift opportunity. The ideal candidate will be available to work 12-hour shifts; 7PM-7AM.

    • The Llura & Gordon Gund - Center for Critical Care is a 24 bed unit, of which, 8 beds are designated as IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit). The Center for Critical Care is located on the 3rd floor (West Side) of the Atkinson Pavilion. The Critical Care Unit is a specialized unit in the hospital where patients with critical illness or injury receive extensive, round-the-clock care and monitoring. Through the program, the care of each patient in the ICU is carefully and closely managed by a compassionate team of intensivists. This model of care is known as a "closed" ICU, because the care of all patients is coordinated by staff intensivists.

      As a Nursing Assistant, you will assist nurses in the delivery of nursing care through participation in the nursing process. Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, their families, guests and representatives of other organizations as well as fellow employees, volunteers and medical staff in support of the Medical Center's mission to provide consistent quality health care services in a professional, caring and responsive environment. Will demonstrate responsibility for individual performance and efficient utilization of products, supplies, and equipment. Will utilize time to insure the timely completion of duties and to promote financial viability through provision of services a reasonable cost.

      ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
      1. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills specific to a nursing assistant in CCU (i.e. ADLs, patient hygiene, vital signs, obtaining weights; emptying and documenting of intake and output, obtaining blood sugar checks; positioning patients; lifting and turning patients; ambulation of patients, etc). 
      2. Performs transports as requested (of patients, medications, supplies, and specimens). 
      3. Performs and records nursing care activities, such as changes in a patient's condition, behavior, and unusual incidents consistent with established policies, procedures, and protocols, as delegated by the registered nurse responsible for the patient. 
      4. Regularly performs job tasks in accordance with hospital and department policy and procedure, including appropriate use of equipment, machines, appropriate use in wearing of physical barriers and safety equipment.
      5. Assists in emergencies and codes according to established protocols.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Completion of UAP course or Nursing 101.

Related Work Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant/Health Aid 
  • Not required but prefer six months of Nursing Assistant experience or currently enrolled in LPN/RN nursing program with successful completion of Nursing I.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • BLS/CPR certification
