Scheie 4 is a new 18 bed inpatient Advanced Primary Stroke Center and Medical/Surgical Telemetry Unit primarily serving the adult population of West Philadelphia. Scheie 4 staff provide care based on evidenced based clinical practice guidelines published by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. They also follow the One Penn Medicine blueprint for Quality & Patient Safety. Due to the broad range of medical conditions med/surg nurses will encounter, Scheie 4 nurses are diverse and well-versed in a large variety of health conditions. Therefore, they provide care for patients often with multiple diagnoses, across multiple medical specialties. ACLS and telemetry experience a plus.”

• Analyze and use of standardized performance measure data to continually improve treatment plans.

- “Gold” recognizes performance for 24+ consecutive months with achievement measures.
- “Plus” is an advanced recognition for compliance with quality measures Penn Presbyterian Medical Center Achievement.
- 85% or higher compliance with all Stroke Achievement Measures.
- 75% or higher compliance with 5 or more Stroke Quality Measures.

Position Description:
The ideal staff nurse practices in collaboration with the healthcare team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. You will provide direct care to patients who may range in age from infancy to the elderly and demonstrate competency within the domains of clinical judgment and decision-making, nurse-patient/family relationship, clinical leadership and clinical scholarship. The staff nurse demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age appropriate considerations of assigned patients. The nurse complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The qualified candidate must be a graduate of a NLN approved school of professional nursing, have a BSN, and licensure as a registered professional nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Experience as an RN for one to two years or more 
  • BLS required
