Description

Penn Medicine is dedicated to our tripartite mission of providing the highest level of care to patients, conducting innovative research, and educating future leaders in the field of medicine. Working for this leading academic medical center means collaboration with top clinical, technical and business professionals across all disciplines.

Today at Penn Medicine, someone will make a breakthrough. Someone will heal a heart, deliver hopeful news, and give comfort and reassurance. Our employees shape our future each day. Are you living your life's work?

The Penn Transplant Institute consistently meets or exceeds the national average in all organ transplants. These superior outcomes are a result of combined efforts of multiple clinical departments across Penn Medicine and a unique, multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of end-stage organ disease. The abdominal organ transplant service at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) performs over 140 liver transplants, 220 kidney transplants, and 12 kidney/pancreas transplants per year. Our inpatient liver/kidney/pancreas transplant team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) has an exciting opportunity for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our rapidly growing team.

As a NP/PA on this service you will be part of a high functioning inter-professional team. Our team is responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of patient care during the immediate transplant period through discharge in addition to post-transplant admissions for acute medical/surgical issues. In addition, the provider will participate in educational activities, research as applicable, ensure regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribe in accordance with their collaborative agreement and State regulations.

In this role, the APP will collaborate with our team of world class surgeons, learn from the most knowledgeable multidisciplinary experts in transplant medicine, and work alongside dedicated transplant coordinators, pharmacists and nurses. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role also involves participation in the Department’s Quality Improvement initiatives and Unit-Based Clinical Leadership (UBCL). Opportunities for professional growth and development are available through research, lecturing, publications, and involvement with departmental and hospital projects and committees.

All Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants function under the guidelines designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The PA or CRNP hired will be held accountable through a formal job description, the delineation of privileges, and their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement.

Must be an Acute Care Certified Nurse Practitioner or Masters Prepared Physician Assistant.  PA licensure required at time of hire.  ACLS required.

We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees. Our employee benefits programs help our employees get healthy and stay healthy. We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits program that includes one of the finest prepaid tuition assistance programs in the region.
