The Nurse Manager of the Operating Room assumes 24 hour accountability for the operation of the designated patient care units. This position is responsible for strategic nursing metrics including patient flow and throughput within the Perioperative environment. Provides oversight and management of OR staffing, metrics and utilization. Provides leadership and direction for Perioperative Nursing projects and initiatives to improve clinical outcomes, patient care, flow and safety.

The Perioperative Services Department at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) includes the Pavilion and HUP operating rooms, four PeriOperative Care Units and the SurgiCentre and Endoscopy Suite at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. With numerous surgical specialties, a variety of operative procedures including but not limited to cardiac, vascular, transplant, robotic, neurosurgical and general surgical procedures are performed in our state-of-the-art environment. Perioperative nurses combine their critical nursing skills with their expert surgical knowledge to care for patients having a variety of complex surgical procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:   Master's Degree or currently matriculated in a master's level program preferably Nursing (MSN) and 5+ years Progressive nursing experience required with demonstrated leadership and management skills required.

Bachelor's Degree BSN Required

Currently licensed as a professional nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania RN required
BLS/CPR as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association required

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with data analytics preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural,
educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to patient age
Ability to communicate in stressful situations
Must be able to work with frequent interruptions
Must be mentally alert at all times
