Summary:

  • Working under moderate supervision by the Director of Video Services, the Manager of Video Production will apply extensive expertise in: video production and creative development, video content strategy and media management for Penn Medicine at the institution and service line levels. This person will create engaging and informative content that supports and strengthens the strategic initiatives of Penn Medicine marketing, as well as overall business development. The Manager of Video Production will also assist with supervision of video services staff and contractors; and develop and manage client relationships (internal and external). This is achieved through understanding enterprise goals and objectives developing creative video concepts, then implementing, directing and executing on those concepts in alignment with marketing strategies and goals and differentiate the Penn Medicine brand. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent writing and creative development ability, and a mastery of team management skills including the recruitment, supervision and retention of production staff and crew members.
  • Working closely with the Director of Video Services and marketing senior leadership, the Manager of Video Production will identify new opportunities for video engagement and innovation across Penn Medicine's digital platforms, develop unique visual solutions, and guide the implementation and execution of those solutions. The Manager of Video Production will be responsible for ensuring the optimization of video quality, production efficiency, and audience engagement. 

Responsibilities:

Video Production and Strategy
  • Applies expertise in digital video production to execution of all video and multimedia deliverables. This is achieved by mastering the video production process from pre-production through delivery, including experience in equipment selection, camera operation, lighting setup, directing crews, media management, editing, color correction and other post production techniques. Carries a project through from initial concept to completion through a mastery of health care specific needs, comprehension of the target audience, tactic management, time management, and budget sensitivity..
Management of Video Services Crew Members
  • Provides assistance in managing the staff and clientele for all areas of video production. This is achieved by strong expertise in client relationship management; strategizing with clients to help them achieve goals; providing intake and management for all new projects, establishing visual messaging strategy and budget criteria for video staff; overseeing and/or managing projects through to completion.
Internal Client Management
  • Manages service line and other clients on behalf of the Division and provides an exemplary level of professionalism and strategic knowledge. Possesses a mastery of the organization and related strategies within the Department of Marketing. Provides leadership and insights in best video practices; informs strategic and tactical marketing decisions to maximize success, leads meetings or presentations with concepts and/or insights for clients as needed. Develops and meets budget expectations for all video deliverables.
Special Project Management
  • Possesses the ability to manage large-scale special projects or campaigns on behalf of the Marketing or Communications departments, serving as internal manager, director, and/or producer for all tactics belonging to special initiatives. Strategizes with clients, collaborates with video team to ensure project strategy and tactics are achieved, tracks all projects from initial concept through to completion and coordinates with all appropriate vendors to ensure delivery of materials.
Video Technology and Infrastructure Implementation
  • Applies expertise in management and operation of centralized, high-speed video file storage server and related workflow software and systems.
Equipment Operation, Management, and Maintenance
  • Applies expertise in the operation and maintenance of the department’s video production and post-production equipment and software as it fulfills the needs of the staff, strategies and deliverables. Equipment includes cinema video camera, lenses, lighting, audio capture, media asset server, media asset management software, and video post-production software. Manages and maintains the functionality of the equipment that is not included under contract. Tests, troubleshoots, and repairs video production equipment to ensure optimal quality, efficiency and productivity.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • 5+ years of digital video production experience (Required)
  • 2+ years of experience working with a team of other video professionals (editors, cinematographers, graphics, audio, etc.)  (Required)

  • Proficient in script development, writing and editing
  • Expertise in creative storytelling
  • Expertise in Apple Macintosh platform and its peripherals
  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Expertise in creative video editing
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and media optimization
  • Proficient in video media management and related workflows (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with digital media asset management systems, such as CatDV (Preferred)
  • Proficiency with color correction software like DaVinci Resolve or Magic Bullet Suite (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with audio synchronization programs like Red Giant PluralEyes (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with archival LTO data management software, such as PreRoll Post or Archiware (Preferred)
  • Proficiency with DSLR and cinema camera operation and media workflow (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with creative and cinematic lighting techniques (Preferred)
  • Proficiency with audio recording and mixing techniques and software (Preferred)
  • Proficiency with video project management and logistics (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with YouTube channel management and optimization (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with web video hosting platforms, such as Brightcove and Vimeo (Preferred)
