GENERAL SUMMARY STATEMENT

Director, NICU/PEDS/MCH 

This position supports the CNO and Nursing Leadership in developing strategies and supporting the overall mission of the hospital and the Maternal Child Division. Management responsibilities include oversight of all operations for Labor and Delivery, Maternity, Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine. This position is responsible for fiscal oversight and development of both operational and capital budgets. Areas of accountability include leadership, strategic planning, focus on patient safety and customer service, continuous implementation of evidence based care, process improvement, maintaining a staff focus and organizational and individual unit based performance results.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. On an annual basis sets departmental goals and direction that promotes The Chester County Health System’s strategic initiatives and goals.
  2. Develops and implements systems and processes to monitor, evaluate and improve nursing practices and patient care outcomes.
  3. Works closely with nursing leadership and other clinical departments to closely identify gaps and solutions in systems and processes.
  4. Utilize knowledge, research and evidence based best practice to develop and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  5. Directs and implements internal processes to assure compliance with Joint Commission, Department of Health and other regulatory agencies.
  6. Provides an environment of motivation and commitment for staff through continuous communication, celebration and education.
  7. Active participant in Hospital of Distinction Committees impacting Maternal Child Services.
  8. Active participant in Shared Decision Making Councils.
  9. Mentors and supports clinical managers, clinical leader

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE, SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor of Science required: Master of Science in Nursing preferred
  2. Current license to practice Nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  3. Certification in clinical specialty (RNC) or Nursing leadership (CNML or NE-BC)

EXPERIENCE

  1. Minimum of five years of nursing with progressive leadership experience

2. Previous director experience preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

1. Posses a high degree of leadership, motivation, self-direction and initiative

2. Experience in leading teams

3. Excellent communications skills, both oral and written

4. Ability to mentor and inspire staff

5. Ability to facilitate group processes toward defined outcomes



6. Strong computer skills

7. Effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills
