Schedule: Full-time Day Shift, Monday-Friday
Summary:
This position assists the Director of Volunteer Services with the many facets of efficient office operation and administrative and onboarding procedures relating to the Hospital’s Volunteer and Volunteen Programs. The Volunteer Coordinator also provides oversight and works directly with the Weekend Volunteen Coordinators to schedule and assign teenage volunteers.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and coordinates the daily operations of the volunteer program with the goal of meeting the healthcare systems volunteer needs.
Assists the Director of Volunteers with recruiting and interviewing prospective volunteers.
Responsible for the onboarding of new volunteers with orientation, placement, training and departmental supervision.
Assists in formulating and implementing policies and competency standards for the health systems volunteer program.
Maintains information on hospital-wide volunteer needs and openings. Works with internal hospital constituencies to define volunteer assignment areas. Ensures that volunteers are appropriately matched and trained for placement.
Maintains monthly volunteer schedule coordinating substitutes where needed to ensure adequate volunteer assignment area coverage.
Maintain volunteer database, which includes keeping compliance records of flu shots, tst screens, applicable trainings, and the tracking of volunteer hours.
Prepares attendance and other statistical data reports for the Director of Volunteer Services.
Coordinate and prioritize the completion of continuous clerical and mailing projects assigned to the Volunteer Office.
Maintain adequate supply levels for Volunteer Office, Work Room, Information Desk and Family Lounge. Responsible for ordering of supplies through on-line ordering portal.
Maintains oversight of weekend Volunteen Program and Summer Teen Program, includes recruiting and interviewing, orientation and attendance of student participants.
Oversees weekend Volunteen Coordinator schedules and assists in preparing for weekend program activities.
Maintains visibility and fosters two-way communication with volunteers and internal personnel.
Assists with the preparation of E-Newsletters and other Department related communications.
Records and appropriately distributes knitting group and other community donations received in the Volunteer Office.
Assists in coordinating and planning recognition events, monthly meetings and special programs for both Adult and student/teen volunteers.
Attends Women’s Auxiliary Board Meeting and provides the Auxiliary with administrative support as requested
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
Two years’ experience in a volunteer organization preferred.
Project management and/or Office management experience.
Two years’ experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred, but not required.
